Workshops for Immigrant Students and Families
Our workshops for immigrant students and families are asset based community spaces in which we hold engaging conversations and knowledge building space on various topics and provide tailoring based on the need of the school and community. Audience: College advisors, high school counselors, 9-12 teachers, school support staff
Format: 2-hour interactive workshop, that incorporates small and large group discussions, reflection, and group activities that allow participants to put their learning into practice.

Description:
Every year, approximately 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school, yet only  5-10% of them go onto college. High school counselors and educators can play an important role in providing resources and guidance on the college admission process and financial aid for undocumented students. This session supports counselors and educators in building knowledge and skills in order to effectively support immigrant students through the college-admissions process.
Audience: K-12 teachers, teacher support staff, and school administrators
Format: 2-hour interactive workshop, that incorporates small and large group discussions, reflection, and group activities that allow participants to put their learning into practice.

Through dynamic, hands-on, and student-centered trainings, educators and school leaders will be equipped with classroom strategies and best practices in order to effectively implement immigrant-focused curriculum and texts. This training is aimed to increase the capacity of educators while supporting their efforts in fostering an inclusive and safe classroom culture for immigrant students.
